Dr. Brent A. Shook specializes in skin cancer surgery and reconstruction. Although trained in both dermatology and cosmetic surgery, Dr. Shook’s primary interest lies in providing patients who develop skin cancer with the gold standard of treatment for their skin cancer, Mohs micrographic surgery.
Raised in northwest Houston, Dr. Shook is a graduate of Klein High School. He graduated summa cum laude from East Texas Baptist University before attending Texas Tech University School of Medicine where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the National Medical Honor Society. He then completed his internship and dermatology residency at Texas Tech University. Following residency, Dr. Shook completed a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery, Cutaneous Oncology, Laser and Reconstructive Surgery at the Laser and Dermatologic Surgery Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Shook is certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery. He also holds active membership in numerous medical societies including the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Shook has made substantial contributions to the medical literature in journals such as the Archives of Dermatology, The Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dermatologic Surgery, Cutis and Facial Plastic Surgery Clinics, among others. Dr. Shook is happily married to his beautiful wife, Audrey, who also grew up in Northwest Houston and graduated from the John Cooper School in The Woodlands. The Shook’s have five wonderful children, Caroline, Annie, Harrison, Grayson and Maggie.
Dr. Conner graduated Magna Cum Laude in Chemistry for Ithaca College. He attended University of Texas in Houston Medical School graduating in 1978. He received the Most Outstanding Student Award and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Conner then trained in General Surgery at UT Houston after which he trained in Cardiovascular Surgery at NYU. He then practiced in Great Falls, Montana. IN 1990 he returned for Plastic Surgery Residency at UT Southwestern in Dallas. He then returned to Great Falls and practiced a combination of Plastic Surgery and Thoracic Surgery.
A growing interest in Skin Cancer led Dr. Conner to seek further training in Mohs Surgery, which is considered to be the most successful treatment for skin cancer. He received Mohs training from Dr. Willis Cottel in Dallas. Dr. Cottel is one of the pioneers of Mohs Surgery. During his fellowship Dr. Conner received additional dermatopathology training from Dr. Clay Cockerell in Dallas. Dr. Conner a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgery, and the American College of Surgeons. He was Board Certified in General, and Cardiovascular Surgery. He is Currently Board Certified in Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Conner has been happily married for 32 years to Susan. They have two children, Katie a PhD student and mother of twins (Henry and Ellie), and Chris an MD/PhD student. They also have two dogs, Lucy and Boo.
Dr. Robert Cook-Norris is a board-certified dermatologist and specialist in skin cancer surgery and reconstruction. He grew up in Ft. Worth, Tx and graduated with honors from University of North Texas. Dr. Cook-Norris attended Texas Tech University School of Medicine where he was in the top 5 of his class and was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the National Honor Society. He then completed his internal medicine internship, dermatology residency, and fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery, Cutaneous Oncology, Laser and Reconstructive Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
"My training at Mayo Clinic strengthened my core principal, 'the needs of the patient come first.' I do not treat skin cancer; I treat an individual patient who has skin cancer."
Dr. Cook-Norris has currently authored over 25 peer-reviewed articles and chapters on dermatology, skin cancer, and skin cancer surgery. He has presented at numerous local, national, and international medical conferences. Dr. Cook-Norris is a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery.
Dr. Cook-Norris is dedicated to his faith and family; his fantastic, supportive wife and accomplished nurse, Rachel, and three beautiful children - Caleb, Hannah, and Arabella.
After a celebrated 31 years in the insurance business, Wayne played an integral role in the launching of several local businesses and organizations. In 1997 he focused his attention on a local private Christian school. During his time spent as the President of the Board of Directors, Wayne increased enrollment and financial support of the school. He saw the construction of some much needed facilities and served as the school's assistant baseball coach. In 2003 Wayne cofounded Community of Faith Church in Cypress, Texas, where he became the church's first administrator. In 2006 Wayne assisted in the start-up of The Woodlands Skin Surgery Center and has since become office manager for the facility. Since then, Wayne has overseen the development and build-out of many other health care offices as the President of Schilleci Consulting and Design, LLC.
Wayne and his wife Debbie have 4 children 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
In 2011 Wayne and his family opened Schilleci's New Orleans Kitchen Restaurant on Market Street in The Woodlands, Texas.
Elizabeth graduated from the L.V.N. Community School of Nursing in May of 1981. She has been a practicing licensed vocational nurse in the state of Texas for the last thirty one years. Her background experience has been in General Medicine for ten years, Internal Medicine for ten years, and Neurology for one year, and Pediatrics for one year. She then entered into the field of Dermatology for the last four years and fell in love with it. She joined the The Woodlands Skin Surgery Center staff in July 2007 to learn more in the field of Mohs surgery.
Liz has three children Trey, Jonathan and Megan, one grandchild Isaiah and married to Richard. Her passion in life has always been in caring for people and she believes she couldn't find herself doing anything other than nursing.
Cheryl is a certified histologist, currently performing Mohs histology work for Dr. Brent Shook. Cheryl graduated from UT M.D. Anderson School of Histotechnology in 1992. She then worked at several area hospitals performing clinical histology. Cheryl worked at Baylor College of Medicine for five years where she gained extensive research experience. Later she joined Lexicon Genetics for five years before she joined The Woodlands Skin Surgery Center in September, 2006.
Prior to working at TWSSC, Tammy attended Bradford School of Business where she earned an Administrative Assistant certificate. Most of her experience is in office administration. In 2003 began working for Kingwood Medical Center as a Medical Records Clerk. It was then that she knew she wanted to be in the medical field, but mainly in an office where she could interact more with the patients. She feels blessed to be working with TWSSC and believes her position allows her the chance to meet the wonderful patients and to work with great co-workers. She has enjoyed her experience here and has enjoyed the chance to grow and to have the opportunity to continuously learn new roles.
Jamie is one of our medical assistants and our insurance verification specialist. She is also available for patients to discuss financial issues associated with billing and collections. Jamie has over 10 years of experience in the medical field. She enjoys caring for and interacting with our patients. Jamie joined TWSSC in October 2006
Claire has worked in the billing department as our Billing and Coding Specialists since March 2008. She is also available for patients to discuss financial issues associated with billing and collections. Her previous experience includes 6 years at a primary care physician practice and 2 years at an imaging facility. With her knowledge she is skilled in many aspects of the front office, with previous positions in customer service, medical records, referrals, and billing. Claire loves to provide outstanding customer service in assisting all patients with any questions they may have.
Tammy joined The Woodlands Skin Surgery Center team in March 2008. She is a Medical Assistant and successfully graduated from the Texas School of Business in 1992. Tammy's medical career began with family practice. She gradually moved to the dermatology field; where she has remained for the past thirteen years.. She has been married to her husband, Jeffery since 1987. She has two wonderful boys, Jacob and Colton.
Christy joined the TWSSC team in March of 2008. She holds many responsibilities in the office as a histology technician and administrative assistant. Also, as a physician coordinator, she is responsible for keeping the lines of communication open between our office and those referring physicians.
In 2010, Christy graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelors of Science degree. She is happily married to her husband, Corey, and they have a handsome son, Cason.
Chrisi has been a Certified Medical Assistant since 2002, graduating from Texas School of Business. She has had six years of experience in ENT, then, joined TWSSC assisting in Mohs Surgery since April 2008.
Chrisi lives in Spring with her amazing husband, Rick. She has two beautiful Blue Heelers named Sonoma and Callaway, and recently adopted a mixed Breed Hound, Autumn. Her position here at TWSSC has been rewarding while working with such great co-workers and meeting such wonderful patients. She couldn't ask to work in a better place.
Lindsey is a medical assistant who graduated from the Texas School of Business in January 2007. She was honored for her 4.0 grade point average and excelling in the program by receiving the Outstanding Student Award for her graduating class. Lindsey started out in gastroenterology and later joined the team at TWSSC in March 2008.
Lindsey has been married since 2004 to Dennis Jones and has two beautiful daughters, Taylor and Hailey.
Amanda has been a medical secretary for the past nine years and plans to pursue nursing. She joined the TWSSC team in March of 2008 and has since become a valuable addition to the group. She consistently strives to ensure patients have a comfortable and efficient experience, Prior to joining TWSSC, Amanda spent five years at a local multi-specialty clinic, where she realized her passion for patient care.
She is the mother of a handsome two year old boy, Jaxon. He is full of energy and keeps her on her toes. They love going on play-dates and enjoy any outdoor activity.
Vanessa obtained a medical assistant certificate from the Bradford School of Business. She has a variety of medical experience in family practice, general surgery, plastic surgery, and dermatologic surgery. She has been assisting in Mohs surgery for the last ten years. She really enjoys interacting with patients and ensuring they receive the very best care at TWSSC.
JoAnne studied emergency medicine at Lonestar College. She has worked in family practice and internal medicine for 10 years. She is married to a wonderful man, Billy since 1992, and has two great kids, Jessica and Tristan.
David started in the medical field in 1988. He has worked as an EMT, ambulance driver and combat navy corpsman attached to the Marine Corps. As an honorably discharged veteran of Desert Storm, David started his career in Mohs surgery in 1992. Throughout his 20 years in Mohs surgery, he has accomplished many goals, including becoming a certified histology technician through Harford Community College (Baltimore, Maryland). He is and active member of both the Amercian Society for Mohs histotechnology and the National Society for histotechnology.
Dawn graduated from Conroe High School and has resided in the area all of her life. She has worked in the medical field for 17 years, specializing as a medical secretary. She enjoys interacting with patients and strives to provide excellent customer service. Before joining TWSSC, Dawn worked for a local multi-specialty clinic. She feels blessed to have joined the TWSSC team and looks forward to growing with the company in the years to come.
